iAdopt

Foster

Open your home for a while. Change an animal's entire trajectory.

Fosters buy us time, and time saves lives. A foster home gives a rescued animal safety, routine, recovery, and a vastly better shot at adoption. Without fosters, rescue work stalls.

Why fostering works

What fostering actually looks like.

A safe temporary home

Not forever. Just stable, calm, and kind while we work toward adoption. You set the boundaries, we support the placement.

Full rescue support

We guide the process, coordinate vet needs, help with supplies where possible, and stay close through the foster period.

Flexible commitment

Short-term, recovery-based, or until-adopted. We'll always discuss timing before placing an animal with you.

Types of fostering

Different kinds of foster, different kinds of help.

Fostering isn't one-size-fits-all. We'll always match an animal's needs to a foster's capacity.

Short-term foster

2–6 weeks

A temporary placement while we find the right adoption match. Usually 2–6 weeks.

Recovery foster

Varies — guided

Caring for an animal post-surgery or through a medical recovery period. We provide full guidance.

Until-adopted foster

Open-ended

Open-ended fostering until the right adopter is found. You'll have full team support throughout.

Emergency intake

1–7 days typically

Immediate temporary placement for an animal in a crisis situation. Fast turnaround needed.

What we look for in fosters

  • A home where the animal can be kept safely indoors or securely contained
  • Time for feeding, observation, basic care, and updates to the team
  • Honesty about your routine, family situation, other pets, and limits
  • Willingness to coordinate with the rescue team during the placement
  • Ability to flag concerns early without waiting for them to escalate
